Alabama’s Nick Saban has apologized to Texas A&M coach Zimbo Fisher and Jackson State coach Dion Sanders for commenting on the payroll of those employees to play football.

Saban told ESPN on Thursday that he doesn’t need to advise schools to cheat, but said he doesn’t like schools using identification, image and related (NIL) contracts to buy players. He said articulation and usage issues like this aren’t good for college football.

“Look, I never should have separated anyone, and I’m not saying that any of these schools didn’t do anything wrong,” Saban said. “I don’t mean they buy players, but more than you could buy players now, and that’s totally allowed. You just use names, images and comparisons to try this. What I’m saying is that it’s not good for the sport and never for federal legislation. If so, it will only get worse. “

Saban said he didn’t need to publicize Fisher, who served as the legendary school football coach’s assistant when the two were at LSU in the early 2000s.

“Jimbo can say whatever he wants. We identified with each other for a very long time. He worked for me and was a great coach. As I said, I had no intention of isolating anyone. either, but I didn’t. Don’t take issues personally. Some guys, once they fight, it’s all private. That’s by no means been what it means to me. Bill Belichick and I are the best associates We’ve been in the same division for 2 years. [in the NFL] I was in Miami once and never had any problems,” he said.

“I am not against NIL. I am against bidding for high school players. I am against lawyers, collectives and others who become members of cash and gamers. Is this really what we need in school football? »

The cleaning soap sued Texas A&M for buying players and claims Jackson State paid $1 million to recruit Travis Hunter from Florida State to alter his dedication to HBCU. Both Fisher and Sanders have denied the allegations.

Fisher addressed Cleaning soap’s remarks during a spirited press conference Thursday morning.

“Some people assume they are God. Look how God made his covenant. You will discover a few men, a variety of matters that you do not need to know. Let’s build it in this football pot. To go. Dig into what the coach has accomplished. You’ll find what you need to find out what it does and how it does it,” Fisher said.

He denied the Aggies broke guidelines once they reached the No. 1 recruiting class in 2022.

“I don’t cheat. I do not lie. For those who do, my old man slaps me all over the face. Maybe someone slapped it (cleaning soap),” Fisher said.
